Toyota Announces The 2025 Toyota 4Runner

What We Know About The 2025 Toyota 4Runner

Recently a vehicle with the shape and style of the Toyota 4Runner was spotted being tested near the Toyota R&D facility near Ann Arbor Michigan. The new 2025 model was caught on a test run draped in heavy camouflage to disguise its new design. Toyota’s mid-size SUV appears to have a similar shape and size to the current 2024 model, but its truck-like underpinnings lend themselves to the current design of this year’s 4Runner, not a Highlander Crossover.

This prototype vehicle conveys some evidence that next year’s 4Runner will receive some modernizations towards its new design. Automotive researchers have discovered that Toyota has been refocusing their attention towards some new innovations in their truck and off-road SUV lineups to remain competitive in the market. There have been consistent trends recognized in the flow of some Toyota models that show redesign features like on the 2022 Tundra pickup, and more recently in a revived Land Cruiser and the newest Tacoma pickup.

In addition to the camouflaged prototype, there were also two Tundra pickups that flanked the new 4Runner either as support vehicles or benchmarks. The new 4Runner is believed to use the mid-size Tacoma pickup truck as it designs template, Both Tundra and Tacoma are engineered on the GA-F body-on-frame platforms. The details of the powertrain are unknown, but based on similar Tacoma offerings, it is believed that the new 4Runner will have a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder engine with a horsepower range of 228-278 as well as a hybrid setup that can get up to 326 horsepower.
